How To Fix A Dishwasher Having Door Issues
If your door is having problems, and won't shut properly, then it's most probable that your dishwasher won't start. It could be due to a number of reasons:
Your lock may need replacing. Excessive use can cause it to wear out. You may be able to adjust your original, but most likely it will need replacing.
The door has two springs that ensure the weight of the door is balanced. If one of the spring breaks, the door will then feel heavy. If this is the case, it is advisable to replace both springs.
Another issue could be that your hinges have bent, and it is almost impossible to bend them back to the original shape. This issue means your door will not be able to shut, and it can cause internal damaging to your appliance when the door is opened and closed. If you hinges are bent, it is best to replace them.
With a new machine, the seals may prevent the door from locking as they have not softened and become accustomed to using yet. If this problem persists, try running a programme at the highest temperature. This will allow the seals to settle and bind to the door easier and quicker than before, allowing your door to shut every time.
To find spare parts compatible with your specific dishwasher, you will need the model (type) number. This is usually made up of a combination of numbers and letters and can be found on the type plate which can be located on the inside of the dishwasher door, or all the way at the bottom (under the door, almost on the floor). In our shop, if you search by this number, you will be shown all the parts we have available that are suitable for your machine. Read here if you're having trouble finding your type number.
