How To Replace A Dishwasher Standpipe and Seal

How To Replace The Standpipe Nut With Seal

Firstly, make sure your appliance is turned off and disconnected from the power source to ensure your safety.

The standpipe connection is usually located at the back of the dishwasher tub, and to make it easier to access, then it is best to remove the upper rack of your dishwasher. To do this:

  • Pull out the upper rack slightly, then remove the end tips from the rail. This is simply done by pulling them off, and then this will allow you to easily slide the upper rack off the rail and out of the dishwasher, clearing way for you to work.

  • Here you will see at the back of your dishwasher is the standpipe. This is an important part of your dishwasher, allowing water to be sprayed into the dishwasher with a pump. If the seal is damaged, this can cause a leakage into the machine which means the pressure drops, decreasing the efficiency and quality of the cleanliness of your dishes.

  • To replace the standpipe and seal, just follow these few, easy steps:

    1. Firstly, turn the nut of the standpipe anti-clockwise until it comes loose.

    2. This will release the plastic plate which is held in place by the nut, so make sure to keep it safe.

    3. Have your new nut ready, and simply put back the plastic plate, then line up the new nut ready to re-secure by turning it clockwise, tightening it firmly to ensure no leakages.

    4. Now you can replace the upper rack, ensuring to put the stoppers back on the rail so that your rack won't go sliding off.

Hopefully this will solve your issues, so that your machine is back to working at peak condition. To find spare parts compatible with your specific dishwasher, you will need the model (type) number. This is usually made up of a combination of numbers and letters and can be found on the type plate which can be located on the inside of the dishwasher door, or all the way at the bottom (under the door, almost on the floor). In our shop, if you search by this number, you will be shown all the parts we have available that are suitable for your machine. Read here if you need help finding your type number.
